Hey everyone, this is kind of a personal entry but I was wondering if anyone could provide input/information on this.
My ferret(who's either 8/9-I can't remember the exact year I got him but it was either when I was 18/19 and I'm now 26 so....)*and the icon for this group* was recently diagnosed with insulinoma. The vet said if I do only medical treatment he most likely has 6 months left to live. If I do surgery he *might* have another year or so but with his age surgery is risky and there is a chance he might not even make it through that.
Because of that, I've decided to just do the medical treatment. Right now I'm giving him maple syrup when he seems weak and he responds to that(gets his energy back, can use his back legs). He is currently eating epigen 90 dry food and also gets the freeze dried raw from time to time.
I read on one website that I should also give him raw chicken liver/hearts as treats/snacks. But is it okay to mix that with his dry food? It won't cause an infection or anything?
If anyone has any input on this, I'd really appreciate it. Maybe share your experience and if anyone has any suggestions on what type of food to feed him, I'd appreciate that too!
